BIANCO CARRARA

Extracted from the Carrara quarries , it is surely the most widely-known white marble in the world

Bianco Carrara, like the other whites in the Carrara area, is extracted from the Apuan Alps, a complex geological structure formed over the years; originally, already in the Lower Jurassic there were some crystalline rocks that underwent a strong variation, transforming themselves from a limestone to a crystalline structure. There are several varieties of white marble in the Carrara area, the three most popular being Bianco Carrara, Statuario and Calacatta, all of which are classified differently by the difference in the whiteness of the marble background and the movement of the veins. Carrara White Marble is one of the best known Italian marbles in the world. The background of this marble is white with a uniform and homogeneous tone and has gray veins and its fine grain often has pyrite crystals.

The quality of the Carrara material is defined by the whiteness of the background and the composition of the gray veins. At the quarry, the lots are graded C or CD, where "C" quality has a whiter background while "CD" is slightly more grayish. The whiter the background color, the higher the quality of the material.
Carrara White Marble can be used both indoors and outdoors, it is particularly suitable for flooring; this type of material is also widely used by sculptors for works of art. The possible creations are: floors, stairs, tables, sinks, kitchen tops, shower trays, decorations and general coverings.
